Why Did EFL, Inc. Choose Phillips?

When originally deciding which AED Education for Life would represent, we personally researched all of the AEDs on the market. After finding the best options from a paramedic’s point of view, we put them to the test by putting them in the hands of eleventh graders and simply watching them interact with the different units.

In this way, we were able to observe that without fail, the students put the Philips model on the patient correctly 100% of the time, and were able to do this faster than with any of the other AEDs. There was no doubt in our mind as to which unit was the best in the hands of bystander responders. This process has recently been repeated in an independent peer review study that found the same results (Andre, 2003).

Making the decision of which Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to purchase can be a confusing process.  The best method to evaluate various AEDs is to see them during a presentation.  Education for Life, Inc. can provide side-by-side demonstrations so that you’ll have the opportunity to evaluate and compare various AEDs.  Here are some important facts to know before making a decision:

  1. 150 joules is enough energy.  It is a myth that you need more energy to shock a patient effectively.  This is a common misconception which can be easily disproven through extensive research.  Our competitors want to scare you into thinking you’ll need more energy.  Let us show you beyond the shadow of a doubt why the way Philips delivers 150 joules results in a more effective shock and leads to higher survival rates with less myocardial damage.
  2. Unlimited indemnification.  There is no cap, required service contract, or other hidden loopholes found with other manufacturers.
  3. Large backlit screen on the FR2.  Having a screen is of no use if it is too small to see clearly, or if it is dimly backlit.
  4. Specific CPR Prompts on the OnSite.  This feature eliminates the “What if I do it wrong?” concern many people have in the heat of the moment.
  5. Large, easily identifiable icons.  Again, the Philips units proved to be the least confusing in the hands of rescuers.  Other units were found to have trouble recognizing a partially attached pad, and rescuers had a difficult time placing the pads correctly.

The advantages of the Philips models are too numerous to list—that’s why Philips is the leader in the market.  Let us come in and show you the machines and the research, so you’ll feel confident in making your AED decision.
