Education for Life Instructors are medical professionals who have actually performed the skills they teach. Education for Life is a training center for the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). Our instructors are certified through ASHI and the American Heart Association (AHA). We will show you what to truly expect when faced with an emergency, and prepare you to handle any situation confidently.
Kylee Lester, Director and Co-Owner of Education for Life, is an EMT-Intermediate and former Army Reservist and Army Medic. She specializes in wilderness survival skills and enjoys working with
scouting and outdoor adventure groups.
Candace Morrow is the new owner of Education for Life. She comes to us with a great passion for CPR and defibrillation education. Working as a volunteer EMT in New Jersey, she tells the story of her very first callVERY first call having to perform CPR on a 36 year old man until the transport vehicle arrived. After moving to Georgia, Candace pursued a career in finance. She is currently the Director of Consulting in a Financial Services Software Company, running a multi-million dollar part of the business. Candace also happens to be Kylee's mother, so as always with Education for Life, we like to work with family and as a family!
Chris Wall is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and Firefighter at Johns Creek Fire & Rescue Service. He is also a Georgia State Fire & Life Safety Educator. He lives in the Sugar Hill area with his family. Chris has been a training instructor for four years and has been working with Education for Life for over two years. Chris has won three watermelon seed spitting contest, well two (the other guy cheated). If you can't tell, Chris is our in house comedian and a great story teller!
Andy Wheeler, originally from England, Andy spent twelve years in the Royal Navy where he received training as a Firefighter and Medic in addition to his extensive military training. Now in the US he is a Firefighter / EMT-I with the Alpharetta Fire Department. He holds a Fire Service Instructor certification and is a Hazardous Material Technician. Andy is a proud father of triplets and through their inspiration has started a company by the name of GEORGIA SAFE KIDS. This company focuses on educating parents as to making their homes child safe, kid friendly and preparing new parents for the challenges ahead!
Charles Gray is the newest Education for Life family member. He comes to us from Dekalb County Fire & Rescue Service where he is a Nationally Registered EMT-I and Firefighter. Charles is a state certified Fire & Life Safety Educator and is known for his alter ego Feelix the Funky Fireman who creates a world of fun to educate children about fire safety and awareness. In one of his recent classes a young participant raved, "Mr. Gray was really, really great-funny, informational, and really brought the severity of these situations home. If you can please let him know how much we enjoyed him and are grateful that he came we would appreciate it!"
Liz Carter has been a certified First Aid/CPR/AED instructor for over four years. She’s also a certified instructor with P.R.I.D.E. (Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error) through the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute. Liz is currently an active member of the Georgia State Defense Force (http://www.gasdf.com). She graduated from the Gwinnett County Citizens Fire Academy and the Gwinnett County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training and has remained an active member of Gwinnett County’s volunteer organizations throughout the last several years. While Liz is passionate about fire and life safety she also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and works full-time as a Corporate Trainer. Liz hopes to have completed her EMT-B training by the end of 2008. In her spare time, she volunteers as the Health and Safety Chairperson for the Peachtree Ridge HS Marching Band program. Go Lions!
Abby Ferrell lives in Northeast Georgia and has been working with EFL as a CPR/AED and First Aid instructor since the Summer of 2007. Abby has been life guarding, teaching swimming lessons and safety for over 10 years. She holds extensive training in aquatic spinal injuries and aquatic back boarding. As with all the instructors at EFL, Abby feels that basic CPR/AED and first aid training are imperative for everyone and that people of all ages can and should be taught these valuable lifesaving skills. Abby also has a very personal and painful history of compound fractures, making her our resident expert on what to and what not to do when you break a bone!
Jama Willbanks is a nationally registered paramedic with over ten years of experience in emergency medicine. A former high school teacher, she has more than six years of teaching experience in the U.S. and South America and is fluent in Spanish.
Donny Willbanks is a nationally Registered paramedic and Firefighter as well as a State Fire Safety Instructor. He is shown here with son Matt, now 7 years old, and has two more future firefighters, Jake, 4, and Tom almost 3!!
Virginia Oakes, R.N. has been a Registered Nurse since 1983 working in a variety of clinical settings including the Emergency Room, Pediatric Trauma Unit and the Operating Room. In addition to teaching CPR, Virginia is an instructor for Accident Scene Management, Inc. teaching the Bystander Assistance Program “A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist” designed to enhance survival rates and reduce severity of injuries for riders of motorcycles.
